A propos

MacDowell is a long lost composer of american music. Trained in Paris and carried by Liszt, MacDowell drew his inspiration from Native American music, particularly in his famous Indian Suite. His Piano Concerto will find Roger Muraro, a performer whose artistry is a perfect match for its virtuosity. Barber’s Adagio, made famous by numerous films (The Elephant Man, Platoon…), was premiered by Toscanini in New York in 1938. The program will also feature an overture by Florence Price, the first Black female composer in history to have her works performed by a symphony orchestra.
