The clarinet had its peak in the United States thanks to one of its greatest ‘champions’, Benny Goodman. It is brought back to life by Pierre Génisson, accompanied by Bruno Fontaine on the piano and the Republican Guard Orchestra. Dedicated to Benny Goodman, its creator in 1950, Aaron Copland’s Concerto follows a poignant elegy with a fast, syncopated section set to a jazz rhythm. Korngold was one of the bridges between Europe and the United States. As an Austrian Jewish composer, he emigrated to Hollywood in 1936, where he wrote the scores for numerous successful films.
