A Tribute to the Chevalier de Saint-George
To mark the 280th anniversary of the birth of the Chevalier de Saint-George, the Republican Guard Symphony Orchestra and violinist Romuald Grimbert-Barré present a concert that brings together the legacy of the 18th-century Enlightenment and contemporary creation.
The music of Saint-George, an iconic figure of Enlightenment thought, classical aesthetics and Guadeloupean culture, engages in dialogue with a contemporary work by Thierry Pécou, inspired by Caribbean rhythms and imagery.
This concert is a musical and spiritual tribute to the unique life of Saint-George, a free-thinking visionary. Between European classicism and island rhythms, the violin reveals itself through multiple facets, an instrument of memory, fire and rebirth.
See you on Thursday 28 May at 8.30 pm at the Salle Cortot!
Launch concert for the album ‘Caribbean Violin Concertos’, released on the Aparté label.
