To mark the 280th anniversary of the birth of the Chevalier de Saint-George, the Republican Guard Symphony Orchestra and violinist Romuald Grimbert-Barré present a concert that brings together the legacy of the 18th-century Enlightenment and contemporary creation.

The music of Saint-George, an iconic figure of Enlightenment thought, classical aesthetics and Guadeloupean culture, engages in dialogue with a contemporary work by Thierry Pécou, inspired by Caribbean rhythms and imagery.

This concert is a musical and spiritual tribute to the unique life of Saint-George, a free-thinking visionary. Between European classicism and island rhythms, the violin reveals itself through multiple facets, an instrument of memory, fire and rebirth.

The year is off to a great start for the French Republican Guard Orchestra!

On Wednesday 7 January, we performed at the Théâtre d’Orléans, a renowned national theatre. We were invited to perform there by the Centre-Val de Loire Gendarmerie Region.
For this first concert of the year, the symphony orchestra, conducted by Bastien Stil, shared the stage with the great soprano Catherine Trottmann.

The singer will continue her collaboration with us at the prestigious Théâtre des Champs-Elysées on Saturday 10 January for our second concert of 2026!
This time, the talented Alex Vizorek, a gifted storyteller, will be joining us!

Waltzes, polkas… follow us to the Vienna of Johann Strauss II, from ballrooms to opera houses!

The French Republican Guard String Orchestra, conducted by Bastien Stil, recorded several pieces, including the Requiem des Lumières, from Victor Le Masne’s album FLUCTUAT NEC MERGITUR.

Alongside Jesse Hughes, Eddy de Pretto, the Radio France Choir and the Chœur du 13, we paid tribute to the victims of the 13 November 2015 attacks through music.

Produced by Universal Music France, all proceeds from the album will be donated to victims’ associations.

In May 2023, the French Republican Guard Orchestra recorded the soundtrack to Finalement, Claude Lelouch’s next film.

While you’ll have to wait until 13 November 2024 to see the film in cinemas, the music, composed by Ibrahim Maalouf, is already available in digital version!

The 2024-2025 Season begins under the banner of change for the French Republican Guard Orchestra, with conductor Bastien Stil taking over as musical and artistic director.

This is an exceptional event, as his predecessor, François Boulanger, had been conducting the ensemble for 28 years!

Following a competitive recruitment process, Bastien Stil becomes the tenth conductor of this orchestra, which was founded over one hundred and fifty years ago. He will conduct the various ensembles – wind band, symphony orchestra and string orchestra – when he performs in France and abroad.

A trained pianist, Bastien Stil is a laureate of the Conservatoire National de Musique de Paris and of the First Bucharest International Conducting Competition. The conductor has worked with leading figures in the music world, at the crossroads of classical music, jazz, chanson and cinema.

He has conducted prestigious ensembles such as the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, the Orchestre Philharmonique de Monte-Carlo, the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande and the Ensemble InterContemporain. He is a regular guest with the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, the Czech Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Porto Symphony Orchestra and the National orchestras of Lyon, Bordeaux, Toulouse and Lille.

His musical background and open-mindedness are in line with the ambitions of the French Republican Guard Orchestra: to pursue its official missions in the service of the State and to disseminate a varied repertoire throughout the country.

The Strad

On Sunday November 26, the final of the Long-Thibaud international competition took place at the University Paris-Panthéon-Assas.
This year, the spotlight was on the violin.

Throughout the day, the five finalists – Bohdan Luts, Dayoon You, Koshiro Takeuchi, Vikram Francesco Sedona and Miyu Kitsuwa – selected from over a hundred candidates from all over the world, performed one after the other, accompanied by the Orchestra.

Audiences were treated to performances of violin concertos by Tchaikovsky, Brahms and Sibelius.

The French Republican Guard Orchestra, under the direction of Colonel Sébastien Billard, has recorded Henri Tomasi’s pieces for violin and orchestra. You can listen to the orchestra play these works, with violinist Stéphanie Moraly. This recording is a world premiere: these pieces have never been recorded before.

The album has been released on the Naxos label, and is now available everywhere!

The disc opens with Concert Argentin, performed by the Orchestra with clarinettist Jean-Marc Fessard and pianist Orlando Bass, two musicians with whom we had great pleasure playing.

The Republican Guard Orchestra and the French Army Choir have the honor to offer you an exceptional concert on the theme of the Marseillaise. Besides its original version of Rouget de Lisle, you will hear many works, variations or evocations of the French anthem. The Orchestra and the Choir also accompany the singer Arthur H during this concert filmed at the Philharmonie de Paris.

From Tchaikovsky to the Beatles, via Bolling and Gainsbourg, discover or re-discover the Marseillaise as you have never heard it before!

You will be able to enjoy this concert, originally planned for a school audience, from April 1st, 2021. It will be available online for 6 months, on the Philharmonie Live platform (link on “find out more”).
